Nikolai/Nikolay Blokhin is a wonderfully sensitive draftsman, who was professor of drawing at St Petersburg Academy of Art. He paints too, but it’s his drawings which I really like.

I’ve only recently started exploring the Russian art scene, and I really feel like I’ve been missing out, there’s some extraordinary talent there.

A great blog that has introduced me to several wonderful painters. Don’t agree with all your choices, but there you go… two painters you could check out, Nicholas Granger Taylor who produces erotically charged nudes and David Cobley, an all round good painter (I especially like his nudes).

Love the work and I will recommend my students take a look at his techniques.
However, his website is horrible!!! The website plays cheesy jazz and has too many pictures of the artist and is not well designed. I had to get off this site before I had a good, close look at all of his work.
